Subtle Sins // Messiah College (Aughinbaugh Gallery)

This exhibit was designed to impact the viewer with a sense of realization and reflection. We all sin everyday, but we might not think much of it. The idea was to use icons or symbols to create a visual reminder of these sins.

As you will notice the first two pictures are preliminary renderings of how the exhibit would appear. Following that is my initial style for the symbols. While I really enjoyed the style I felt the images were still too ambiguous. The final style for the symbols were both cohesive and readable.

The meaning for the wall was to create a "meditative space." The window was placed in the wall to allow people already in the exhibit to be seen with their heads in the downward position (prayer-like), which set up this "meditative space". The final part of the exhibit was the take-home cards located on a shelf in the wall. These included the symbol with their definition as a way to give the viewer a way to remember these sins.
