March // Bond Design
Design Daily started late one night when we were tired of working on a project. We just wanted to do something fun and experimental. March 8th, 2009 was the first ever DD and they continue to this day. We wanted to challenge ourselves everyday to create a new piece of design. The goal was to complete them within 15 minutes. The size would be three inches square. We took more than 15 minutes so now we’ve set the time limit to about 45 minutes. Each DD always has the date integrated into the design. The overall idea of making a specific piece of art for each day comes from On Kawara’s paintings of the dates.
Each DD originally started as the owner's daily Facebook picture, but due to increased popularity we created a FanPage on Facebook. All previous DD's are stored in photo albums correlating with their date. While, ideally we would like to create a DD for each day, there have been quite a few days that we havn't been able to. Hopefully that will change now that we have a FanPage!
We really enjoy creating these because it forces us to be creative each day and it challenges us to look at others' work for inspiration.
